In Genesis Facebook group a user asks:
Hey, can anyone share how I can add the usual tags and categories below each post using Essence Pro?
Single posts of Essence Pro display post meta having categories, byline and other info below the title inside the page header.
The entry footer that shows posts categories and tags is removed site-wide and we can change this so it is removed from all the pages of the site except on single posts.
Step 1
In functions.php
replace
// Removes the entry footer.
remove_action( 'genesis_entry_footer', 'genesis_post_meta' );
remove_action( 'genesis_entry_footer', 'genesis_entry_footer_markup_open', 5 );
remove_action( 'genesis_entry_footer', 'genesis_entry_footer_markup_close', 15 );
with
add_action( 'genesis_after_entry_content', 'sk_remove_entry_footer' );
/**
* Removes the entry footer except on single posts.
*/
function sk_remove_entry_footer() {
if ( is_singular( 'post' ) ) {
return;
}
remove_action( 'genesis_entry_footer', 'genesis_post_meta' );
remove_action( 'genesis_entry_footer', 'genesis_entry_footer_markup_open', 5 );
remove_action( 'genesis_entry_footer', 'genesis_entry_footer_markup_close', 15 );
}
Step 2
In style.css
or in Additional CSS section of the Customizer, add
.single .entry-footer p.entry-meta > span {
display: block;
}
to make the categories and tags appear in two lines in the entry footer.
Thanks for sharing this small piece of code. For some reason I was not finding how to add entry meta on single posts in the new Essence Pro theme. All the best.
