Search & Filter is a simple search and filtering plugin using which we can search by Category, Tag, Custom Taxonomy, Post Type, Post Date to refine searches.
Below is a sample shortcode that will display a dropdown showing terms of a "project-type" custom taxonomy. Selecting a term will display entries of a "projects" Custom Post Type that have been categorized with that taxonomy.

Have you checked out facetwp at all. I love using it on search sites and where I have mutliple taxes that can be used for filtering. it’s quite nice.
Yes. I purchased a copy of FacetWP as well.
I find Search & Filter Pro easier to use than FacetWP.
Is it possible to make the search ajax based, such that when the user clicks on a taxonomy term, it automatically searches through without having to click a button?
Possible in the Pro version of this plugin.
Hi Amba,
I use Filter Custom Fields & Taxonomies and I am pretty happy with it. I first got the free version in the repository, but later I needed some more features, so I switched to the PRO version.
It comes only as Ajax without buttons in the free version, maybe you want to have a look
Is this any way to make this working with CPT-onomy plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/cpt-onomies/? It output the link to archives with /tax/ in front so my custom taxonomy archive page will be something like /tax/product …I will purchase the pro version in a sec. if can do that…
I will test it tomorrow and report back.
In the meantime you might want to contact the plugin author with your question.
