TextExpander (20% off coupon code: SK20PERCENTOFFTE) is a Mac software for expanding abbreviations to full text with support for useful features like custom triggers (delimiters) and cursor placements. A must-have tool for increasing my productivity.
For example, I type ml
followed by `
and TextExpander expands it to margin-left: ;
with the cursor placed just before the semi colon.
This is just a quick post to share my collection of TextExpander snippets that cover not only CSS but also generic ones like bbl
which expands to be back later
(after typing `
at the end of bbl
).
Windows users can use the excellent PhraseExpress instead.
I set all the abbreviations to be expanded upon pressing `
key like this:
You are the coolest. Sridhar for president.
did’t know this one!
There is also https://kapeli.com/dash wish is not free, but great, as it has libraries of code.
and allow to put variables in the snippets
and this one : http://www.shpakovski.com/codebox/ it has no variables, but better classification of snippets
i use both depending of if they need variables or not
big fan of snippets !
Alright Sridhar, this is getting quite scary. I was just wishing for this exact tool again today, and bam, here it is. Are you reading my thoughts? 😉
This is very helpful, because you can user it email, or anywhere, not just in your code editor.
Thank you Sridhar!
Haha I wish I can read others’ thoughts.
Actually Bodie asked for this a couple of times in GenesisWP Slack chat. So I shared this.
