Nice, i did something similar for a client site, but using predefined CPT content in the template (http://www.thevillareview.com) , why did you use widgets? easier to customise for a wider audience?
Yes. Also because we have ‘Genesis – Featured Posts’ widget and its advanced variations via plugins, it makes it easy to simply select the Post type (to show entries from a CPT) instead of manually coding the loops.
Nice work, but i need to modifications……. I want the featured post widget only on the post area instead of the entire header
Try using “genesis_before_loop” hook instead of “genesis_after_header”.
Refer to http://genesistutorials.com/visual-hook-guide/
Thanks bro, already changed it, but i need help….. Is possible to use the magazine pro home bottom widget to this latest and popular posts just like this http://i60.tinypic.com/2ypi70g.png?
I’m going to try again, and see if I can make this work.
i love this bro… keep up the good work
Outstanding tutorial! I’d like to adapt it to mimic the featured area in this non-Genesis theme, but I’m unsure how to get the larger thumbnail on the top-right and the two smaller thumbnails in the bottom-right. Would that involve making two widgets stack on top of one another somehow? Any advice would be great — this tutorial is SO close to getting there, but I just can’t figure that last bit out.
Hi Sridhar,
I have followed your Masonry in Genesis tutorial and have successfully laid out my posts as pinterest does.
However, when I tried to follow this particular tutorial, the ‘masonry-page’ custom body class styling also gets applied to the featured posts in the widget areas.
I would like to get rid of this forced css styling. How may I go about this?
Thank you,
Ahmed
