Loved this tutorial, but how would you do it by using a post category of “Portfolio” instead of a CPT?
May I know the reason why you do not want to use the CPT?
No specific reason, other than not wanting to add another plugin and just using a category.
I will take a plugin that Gary Jones has written any day over an alternate piece of code.
Anyway, it is possible to do something similar by using the “Portfolio” category. You will have to create a file named category-portfolio.php, put in the code from archive-portfolio.php into it. Few other changes may be needed. Give it a try.
Yep, that’s what I thought. Thanks!
Thanks a million Sridhar! I was actually able to follow your instructions and do this myself. You’re a great teacher and I owe you one. 🙂
what is the advantage from PPT above Types with View ?
Thanks for all the good stuff you’re doing here. (I added the video code for Centric to Agency Pro and it worked great). I’d like to add a portfolio like this to it—but then have the archive filterable like some of your earlier tips.
Great stuff, that was exactly what I was looking for. Centric Pro is one of my favorite child theme on Genesis and this tutorial has just given me the icing on the cake! Thanks Sridhar
Thanks for the nice tutorial, Sridhar. You can easily adapt this for archives on any CPT and it’s very cleanly done.
I’m wondering how I can sort the CPT archive as you’ve coded it, using one or two taxonomies. (sort and 2-level sort).
And thanks for showing us all these cool ways to work with Genesis.
[…] other day I published a tutorial on setting up Portfolio Grid in Centric Pro. In this article I will take it up a step further and share the details on how we can make it […]
Can you please tell me how to make the same portfolio from within Dynamik Web Builder for Genesis?
I followed your instructions but this doesn’t work in Dynamik.
I Really like the post image /excerpt overlay on Ambiance Pro theme. I am trying to incorp it into my minimum pro theme using pages instead of posts. Any thoughts on how to best tackle this?
Hi Just a quick question. I have followed your fantastic guide but after adding the responsive code to style.css Im not seeing any changes. The code was added at the bottom of the style.css located in Centric Pro /wp-content/themes/centric-pro/style.css. Here’s a link http://www.steelframewindows.com/portfolio , it all works but just not styled.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Your tutorials are amazing!
Is it possible to pull 3 most recent portfolio items into one of the home page sections?
Thanks in advance,
Try a plugin like http://wordpress.org/plugins/genesis-featured-widget-amplified/
In the tut above YOUR portfolio image is showing “9” images for the portfolio, I just followed this TUT and mine is showing 10 and it seems to be messing the pagination up…
Great TUT as well by the way 🙂
Carl, did you ever get this resolved?
Could this tutorial be applied to the Parallax Pro theme?
