This is a simplified version of my earlier Full width Soliloquy slider with Utility Bar, Header and Navigation floating on the top in Utility Pro tutorial where the 100% wide slider is set to replace the text widget in Home Welcome widget area.
Step 1
Install and activate Soliloquy.
Create a slider named say, Home Slider
and upload/select your desired slide images.
In the Config tab, select "Full Width" for Slider Dimensions and enter your slide images' width and height.
[optional] Use this sample HTML for caption:

What happens to the captions when the site is in responsive mode for mobile?
Ignore this – didn’t realise there was a checkbox for it
I might fiddle with the CSS as it overlays the menu when on mobile sometimes
You know what would be cool?
If the captions/titles appeared in the same style as the original home welcome text. That would be so neat!
I guess the issue is that the slider isn’t dynamic with height like the home welcome section is, and if there is text in there it messes it up and overlays the menu hamburger.
Or you could you some styling to make is small and then hide it on the very smallest mobile devices
{correction}
Or you could you some css styling to make the font smaller on devices like a tablet and then hide it for a phone
