Thanks for this helpful tutorial! Question: I currently have a Pixelista Theme ( Creative Burst) and I curious to know how difficult it would be to make the theme a full wdith website ? Website it http://webspyred.com. I’m pretty comfortable with css and still learning pho but I want to if its a matter of tweaking the CSS for the site containers or if I have to do some additional php? Thanks again for your awesome tutorials!

Thanks so much! It worked you are a genius! And to change the body so that it is the same width as the header and footer ?
Is there anything else I need to do? I really appreciate the help thank you
.home-middle .wrap,
.featured .wrap,
#inner .wrap {
width: 1231px; (I changed this from 960)
}
I know I need to change the widths for the home widgets I can play around with that – I think I answered my own questions thank you!
Please how can i use widgets on homepage like this?
Hi. I’m having a problem with getting the full width layout to show up on my blog. I installed a theme (Runway) on Genesis that had unregistered the full width content layout. So I removed the “unregister layout” in the code of runway, and full width pages are available for normal pages, but for some reason it won’t work on the blog – there is still an ugly sidebar. Do I have to edit the Genesis theme files to get full width to work on the Blog page? Any advice you could give me would help – I don’t know what to edit or what code needs to be added so the Blog can be full width.
Thank you!

Wow. I just found an option in theme settings that enabled it to work! Nevermind!
I really want content that will be mobile friendly but the problem I’ve run into is I code my own home page then my blog uses a WordPress theme and the result is an inconsistent look across my page. Would this work to make a new theme only or can you alter an existing theme with a child theme to make it mobile friendly?
Do you think it would be better to develop a theme from scratch using Genesis or are there already themes we should start with and alter?
Sorry to ask so many questions.
You can have a custom homepage exactly like how you want it with WordPress. I think ‘Genesis Sample’ child theme comes free when you buy Genesis. It is like a blank starter theme that you can use to create a custom website.
I recommend Dynamik Website Builder for the Genesis framework from Cobalt Apps. Details at cobaltapps.com.
Hey, thanks for the great tutorial. But I have a query. I have the News Child theme activated on my blog. I don’t want full width template only for the homepage, but also for the content. Not completely full width, but I want to extend the content area to the blank backgrounds of the theme. I don’t want the background to show up, I want to get a full width of the theme occupied by the content area and the sidebar. Is this possible?
Hello and greeting Sridhar Katakam, how to apply this option for my Magazine Pro Child Theme? I like to keep the home top, home middle, Home bottom, and after entry widget on front-page.php but I want to remove primary and secondary sidebar on front-page.php.
Thanks for your tutorial. I’m interested in having the ability to produce content in any Genesis theme that is displayed in “full browseer width” – i.e. like we see used in the Centric theme. In other words, I want text displayed on the page to have padding (like always), but I’d like background images or background colors to be displayed over the full width of the browser.
To that end, I made the following post in the Sudiopress community:
http://www.studiopress.com/forums/topic/full-browser-width-page-post-template/#post-128275
I frankly do not know what to make of the answers given. Naturally I could pursue the topic further by continuing to post questions in the same thread I started. But I’ve always found your answers to be (1) concise and (2) complete, so i thought I’d just ask you directly.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
