How to place a full width slider in Home Featured widget area in Centric Pro

In this article I show how the main Featured section in Centric Pro can be replaced with a full width responsive slider using the RoyalSlider commercial plugin.

  • I am trying to add this to the child-sample theme. I created the home.js but don’t know how to load that file?

    I did purchase the RoyalSlider because it looked like a good one. I am happy with it, but like the full width version too.

    • I have a .site-inner, .wrap { margin: 0 auto; max-width: 1200px; }

      I’m afraid to change the containing divs to max-width: none; won’t this break the layout for the rest of the site?

  • Hello Sridhar,

    I just started working with the genesis framework and bought the centric pro child theme.

    Now I am thinking of buying the genesis extender plugin to customize this child theme. I really love your tutorials and hope you will keep them coming since they are very usefull!

    I was wondering if you could write a tutorial on how to add a responsive slider with the extender plugin to the centric pro child theme. Also how to customize the colours and fonts of the theme. Like the header/menu colour.
    Also I was wondering if it’s possible to change the header/menu to something as in the parallax pro, agency pro or minimum pro themes. The menu is more centered it seems.

    Would these things be able to do with the extender plugin for someone who is not familair with alot of coding?

    I am willing to buy the extender plugin through your affiliate link ofcourse if you have one.

    PS: Isit also possible to add a secondary menu which will only show on the homepage and scrolls to different sections on the homepage?

  • I love your tutorials and follow your work religiously. I have made many of the customizations you suggest on Centric Pro to my site as well. I am trying to take things a step further on having the custom top widget area. I have combined your tutorials and made a video background. you can see it at http://77sites.com Its working but as you scroll down the page the header area gets all messed up and disappears. Im not sure whats happening but could you please have a look and point me in the right direction. Thank you very much.

    • The only problem he doesn’t answer questions on his blog but has no problem asking others what to do like Bill Erickson’s blog where Bill answered his questions. Seems to me if you don’t hire him he won’t help. This is not how the open source community works.

      • Open source doesn’t mean cost free. It means you’re free to view – and in some cases fork – the code; not that the code – and the time it takes to create it – is free.

        Sridhar’s tutorials are free – and they are comprehensive. However, they do require a level of understanding. If you’re unable to achieve it on your own, then you need to either pay for Sridhar’s time or take the time to learn how to do it yourself.

        • I understand the code but have questions like everybody learning, all I’m saying it’s a double standard. He doesn’t answer questions but goes to other sites to get answers to write or update his own posts.

          I can achieve what I need to achieve without paying another developer for me. I think you mistook what I was saying

          It’s been a few years since I’ve had to work with WordPress and Genesis is a totally new way for me to make child themes, I was accustomed to just making custom themes.

          The open source community is about sharing code and knowledge. How did you learn Ben?

    • Just taking a peek at your site, you might want to set the z-index to a higher number so it’s in front of the other content in the site. Good luck. 😀
