Parallax section above Footer on Pages and Posts in Parallax Pro

In the Tutorial Requests forum, a user wrote:

Hey Sridhar.

Those of us who use Parallax Pro do so because we want that particular site to have parallax sections on the landing page. But this doesn’t account for page types and post types, which do not have an option for parallax sections.

Your tutorial, How to Apply Parallax Effect in any Genesis Child Theme is great, and I’ve used it. But this tutorial does not apply to 1 Genesis child theme: Parallax Pro!

You would think it would be as easy as registering a widget area above the footer, but that has not worked for me. If you have time, a tutorial for adding a parallax image section above the footer on page types and post types in Parallax Pro would be greatly appreciated!

(Side note: I’m using Extender).

In this tutorial I share the steps for registering a custom "Inner Above Footer" widget area, displaying this above the Footer Widgets on single Posts and static Pages in Parallax Pro. We shall take JS and CSS from one of the front page Parallax sections and apply it to our custom section for the fixed background/parallax effect.

Step 1

    I managed to get the widget visible in the widgets page (Appearance > Widgets), it sits pretty with between Home section 5 and Footer 1. However, I cannot add the widget to the homepage in Appearance > Customize > Widgets and I do not know other way to get the widget visible in the homepage. Where did I go wrong?
