I read your column everyday. I am at my wits end with a recurring problem that WP Engine, Easy Recipe Plus owner, Foodie Pro, and Fantasktik can’t help me with.
The latter wanted over $1000 to look into it. I am a hobby food blogger.
Ever since I moved from Bluehost to WP Engine, very randomly my published recipes will lose their formatting. There is no problem with theme, plugins, as I have worked in a staging environment and no amount of testing generates an error. I can open a recipe nd it will be fine. Then reopen, and it goes bad. When I see this, I go in and reprocess the recipe nd all is well. No pattern is apparent, and some recipes will go bad more than once, and some not at all. I can’t give examples since I have been fixing them as I find them. So far about 150 of 470 recipes have been fixed.
I had first thought the problem was my version of PHP went from 5.5 to 5.3.2.1 when I changed hosts. It wasnt’t going to WP4.0 because the problem existed prior to that. I had added Autoptimize and then deleted thinking that was messing up. Also I had used Wpdb Clean Sweep, and WP Optimize and deleted those. I audited every recipe, fixed all the bad ones and haven’t added any plugins sice then and last night I found a recipe only published a few days ago was now bad. I fixed it, it was Maple Roasted Sweet Potatoes. My sight has been VERY inefficient since this started November 5.
Is there something I can do to see why this happening? My posts are picked up by the Daily Meal and I need this fixed. It doesn’t matter what browser, mobile, desktop or laptop, the problem still exists.
I am willing to hire to fix this as long as the cost isn’t prohibitive.
I don’t know where to turn next.
Please let me know if you have come across anything like this.
