In Modern Portfolio Pro, the Portfolio category archive page shows the Posts in a list by default as can be seen here.
Grace wants to know how these Posts can be shown in columns with a simple layout of Post title and Featured image - both linking to their respective single Post pages.
This is pretty simple thanks to the code by Bill Erickson.
Just create a file named category-portfolio.php having the following code in Modern Portfolio Pro's theme directory:

This is great Sridhar! Just what I needed today. Two Questions: 1. how would you reposition the post title UNDER the image and 2. what about adjusting the number of posts that display in the grid?

Could you do the same for all the category archive pages as well? Show the featured image for all the posts in the portfolio style?
I’m wondering how this can be targeted to work just on a specific function.
For example, if you add a section to a home page, where you want normal blog posts to display in 1 column, but you want a secondary loop to display in column classes.
Thoughts?
I followed the steps exactly, but this didn’t work for me. Nothing changed; portfolio posts are still in a row and meta is still there. I double-checked the code and I cleared the cache. What do you think happened?
I just tested and this works fine.
