Came to know that Catalyst framework is being scrapped and the developers are concentrating their efforts just on Dynamik Website Builder for Genesis (Genesis child theme) and the Genesis Extender (plugin).
I am pleasantly surprised by the fact that Dynamik Website Builder for Genesis is being offered free for existing Catalyst (used to be called “Frugal” when I bought it) users. I was one step away from buying it actually (added it to cart) before I decided to check out the big announcement.
If you are own a license for Catalyst framework, log in at http://cobaltapps.com/my-account/ using the same login info as at Catalyst. You can then download Dynamik Website Builder for free. If you don’t own Genesis framework, there’s a link in the members area that gives you 50% off.
Personally I am not a fan of Genesis and always wondered why people would go “oooh aaah” about it when there are awesome time-saver frameworks like iThemes Builder and Catalyst. But with Dynamik Website Builder for Genesis, things could change. I am going to play with this combo and see if I like it.
I am currently on the fence about Genesis Extender. Might buy it.
Have you tried it yet?
Yes.
http://i.imgur.com/pSFdxOG.jpg <-- done in Genesis and DWB w/ no HTML/PHP code and minimal CSS (http://pastie.org/private/mrxjcrcjgmlzz4mghqp2a). Trying to re-create http://dunefskydesign.com/ for practice.
It takes time to figure out where to change with so many settings.
I didn’t find time to continue using it to do the remaining pages of the site I was using for practice.
But from what I’ve seen, it’s worth having in your webdesign toolkit.
