How to apply layouts conditionally in Genesis

Genesis comes built in with the following layouts:

  • Content Sidebar
  • Sidebar Content
  • Content Sidebar Sidebar
  • Sidebar Sidebar Content
  • Sidebar Content Sidebar
  • Full Width

The default layout, 'Content Sidebar' can be changed at Genesis > Theme Settings.

We can override the default layout on a per Page or per Post basis by editing the Page/Post.

Additionally it is also possible to apply a layout by using genesis_pre_get_option_site_layout filter.

Here are a couple of examples. Code goes in child theme's functions.php.

  • Fantastic post. I have often thought about how to force layouts for CPT in Genesis. Now you have shed some good light on this.
